The learning experiences of this Earth Science Investigation are divided into four steps:

Step 1. Ask Questions

In this step of the investigation students identify and discuss the issue or problem and begin to gather background information.

Step 2. Plan Approach to Inquiry

In this step of the unit students develop their approach to answering the question developed in the first step of the investigation.

Step 3. Conduct Investigations and Analyze Data

In this step, students conduct their own investigation and prepare to communicate ideas.

Step 4. Construct Responses and Communicate to Others

In the final step of the investigation, students prepare their response to the lesson's essential question.
