New Community Group for Education, Communication, and Outreach at COP: ECONGO

Abstract: The second week of COP 22 is underway in Marrakech. We will explore the founding of a new constituency group for education, communication, and outreach groups, ECONGO, and how the CLEAN Network can engage in an international network and push for robust action in the UNFCCC policy space.

Bio: Mark is now Senior Fellow at the Centre for Sustainable Development Studies at the National University of Public Service in Budapest, Hungary. He was present at the first CLEAN conference call in January of 2008 and was a co-PI on the CLEAN project funded by NSF. He was an associate scientist at the NOAA Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences at the University of Colorado at Boulder, served as program and policy director at the National Center for Science Education, was co-author of the survey of US science teachers on their practices of teaching climate change that was published in the journal Science last spring, and is author of the Climate Smart & Energy Wise, published by Corwin Press. Mark collaborates with Climate-KIC, the largest European public private partnership focused on climate solutions, and is excited to share some background on ECONGO and its vision of working internationally to help build capacity for climate action through effective climate education, communication and outreach.
