Changing Climates @Colorado State University
Changing Climates began as a project to help those members of the Colorado State University community who are interested in climate change meet each other, learn more about related research and teaching on campus, and share their knowledge. We believe that climate change is everybody's business, and that we'll need everybody's skills and perspectives to deal with it -- not just scientists and policy makers, not just specialists in solar energy or green building, but also those of us whose interests and abilities are in quite different subjects. We think, too, that a large public university is a great place to pull these perspectives together. So, our goal is to offer high-quality, up-to-date information about climate change as people in many different disciplines see it: climate and political scientists, yes, but also visual artists and ecologists, sociologists and ethicists, writers and historians. We hope these materials are especially useful for college teachers and students, but we also want them to be helpful to interested people everywhere. We aim for primer-level clarity and college-level content.
Changing Climates was founded and is directed by SueEllen Campbell and John Calderazzo, both writers and professors in the CSU English department. It is generously supported by CMMAP, a National Science Foundation Science and Technology Center, the Center for Multiscale Modeling of Atmospheric Processes. Other sponsors at Colorado State University include the Office of the President, the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, the Department of English, TILT (The Institute for Learning and Teaching) and the many people who have contributed ideas, expertise, and time to this endeavor.
