About the Speakers:
Dr. Tamara Shapiro Ledley is a senior scientist and chair of the Center for Science Teaching and Learning at TERC. She also leads the Earth Exploration Toolbook and EarthLabs projects, which are developing climate change curriculum materials. Her research has focused on understanding the mechanisms of climate change, specifically examining the impact of the cryosphere on atmosphere-surface energy exchange and how that shapes climate.
Dr. Susan Buhr directs the Education Outreach program at the University of Colorado's Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES), and has been engaged in climate science professional development for teachers since 1996. Dr. Buhr also directs the Inspiring Climate Education Excellence (ICEE) project at CIRES, the purpose of which is to develop content knowledge and knowledge of effective teaching strategies in climate education among secondary science teachers.
Dr. Jeff Lockwood is a curriculum writer and professional developer at TERC, with a 28 year background teaching high school astronomy, physics, and Earth science.
